Learning outcomes

Participants will be able to:

  • Explain the evolution from traditional software and generative AI to agentic and multi-agent systems.
  • Describe agent components, tools, memory, planning, reasoning, execution and feedback.
  • Design a basic agent workflow and evaluate it for reliability, usefulness and risk.
  • Map Agentic AI opportunities to academic and industry use cases.
  • Create a lesson plan, lab exercise, assessment rubric and capstone brief for learners.
  • Present an Agentic AI teaching or institutional adoption roadmap.
Hands-on labs

Learn by building

Guided builds that turn concepts into working systems — and into lab exercises you can take back to your own students.

Lab 01

Research Agent

Build a tool-using agent that finds, reads and summarises sources for a research question.

Lab objectives
  • Define an agent's goal, tools and stopping conditions
  • Connect a knowledge source and cite what the agent uses
  • Evaluate the quality and reliability of its answers
Lab 02

Multi-Agent Workflow

Orchestrate specialised agents that plan, research and review a multi-step task together.

Lab objectives
  • Assign clear roles to cooperating agents
  • Design hand-offs, shared memory and orchestration
  • Handle failures, retries and human checkpoints
Lab 03

Industry Solution

Apply an agentic pattern to a manufacturing, cybersecurity or healthcare scenario.

Lab objectives
  • Frame an industry problem as an agentic workflow
  • Choose and justify an architecture pattern
  • Weigh performance, cost and integration constraints
Lab 04

Governance Exercise

Review an agentic system for privacy, security and governance risks before it goes live.

Lab objectives
  • Identify privacy, data and security risks
  • Define guardrails and human-oversight points
  • Map controls to a responsible AI framework
Capstone project

The Agentic Enterprise Capstone

Working in teams, participants design, build and present an agentic solution to a real education or industry problem — bringing together everything from the five days. Example capstones:

  • A research-assistant agent that searches approved sources, summarises evidence and cites references for faculty review.
  • A student-support agent that answers from approved institutional material and escalates sensitive or uncertain requests.
  • A multi-agent industry case study with separate research, analysis, validation and reporting roles.
  • An AI governance teaching module with scenario-based exercises and a practical assessment rubric.

What every participant takes away

  • Agent design canvas
  • Lab artefacts
  • Risk & evaluation checklist
  • Teaching lesson plan
  • Assessment rubric
  • Capstone presentation
  • Assessment weighting (indicative)

  • Knowledge checks and concept application10%
  • Hands-on lab exercises20%
  • Architecture / use-case design work25%
  • Capstone project and demonstration30%
  • Teaching plan, presentation and reflection15%
  • Recommended completion standard: at least 80% attendance and a 60% overall assessment score, subject to final IDTE policy.
